This corner of South West Scotland is renowned for its varied and unspoilt scenery and also particularly mild climate throughout the year. Many attractions within the district are easily accessed from this locality such as: Mull of Galloway, Scotlands most southerly point; Logan Botanic Gardens; excellent golf courses at Dunskey, Portpatrick, Creachmore, Stranraer and County, Glenluce. The picturesque villlage of Portpatrick which is the starting point of the Southern Upland Way; Galloway Forest Park; many good rivers for trout and salmon fishing and plethora of routes for walking. The main routes into this corner of Wigtownshire are the A77 coming south from Ayr/Glasgow and the A75 west from Carlisle and Dumfries.
